Artist Profile
Joe Frost
Frost’s paintings often end up picturing the environment that he lives in, but for the resemblance to be open and true, it is necessary for the painting to find a clear sense of its own form. It is important to the artist to be free to follow two different impulses. Reaching back to a known subject is one, but reaching towards an unprecedented image is the other. Both are necessary to achieve a picture that does justice to the experience of living.
