Still Motion
10 April - 15 May 2019
‘Still motion’ is an exhibition that continues to explore landscape, and how we connect with it. Each image stands alone, captured as a frame from film, with the brushed blurring technique creating motion within the stillness of a scene. Although seperate, the works, when viewed sequentially, convey a greater picture of landscape as a whole.
As in past exhibitions, the works remain large scale, with the proportions being shifted to create more intimate portraits of each landscape. However these works engage more closely with colour, with the exhibition capturing a more diverse view of the landscape than previously seen. These scenes, captured around the world, transcend time. By creating timeless imagery, it opens up the opportunity for the viewer to connect with a scene in a way that is powerfully personal. Rather than telling a story through the landscape, the viewer is allowed to tell their own.
