pretty

adjective

attractive in a delicate way without being truly beautiful.

Beauty has always been a subject of fascination and contemplation for artists, while the word ‘pretty’ is rarely used to describe art. ‘Pretty’ evokes images of flowers and dainty objects and conjures a sense of superficial charm. Challenging this perception, pretty delves deeper and explores its multifaceted nature, challenging traditional perceptions of beauty. Through a collection of diverse artworks, Liverpool Street Gallery invites you to embark on a journey that transcends the surface-level definition of 'pretty' and unravels its hidden complexities.

Artists in this exhibition explore the delicate balance between vulnerability and resilience. Some of the works capture moments of raw emotion, where the pursuit of beauty is intertwined with personal growth and overcoming adversity. Through the interplay of fragility and strength, there is a redefinition of 'pretty' as a testament to the human spirit.

pretty is an exhibition that challenges conventional notions of beauty and invites viewers to explore the complexities and diversity of aesthetics.
